Discover the versatility and beauty of cold wax medium in this hands-on, two-day workshop! Designed for artists with some basic experience using oil paints, this class will introduce you to the unique techniques that make cold wax a favorite for creating rich texture, depth, and expressive semi-abstract landscapes.
Throughout the workshop, you'll complete two original paintings while learning:
-Preparing painting surfaces for cold wax
-Aerial perspective for landscapes
-Additive and subtractive painting techniques
-Creating texture with specialty tools and materials
-Choosing harmonious color palettes
-Incorporating collage and metallic leaf
-Understanding drying times and layering methods
-Knowing when to refine, add, or remove elements to strengthen your composition
The instructor will provide demonstrations, reference materials, and plenty of individual guidance throughout the class. Most specialty tools and mixed-media materials are included. Participants are responsible for bringing their own cold wax medium, oil paints, panels, and other basic supplies (a complete supply list will be provided upon registration).
