Take your portrait painting skills to the next level in this engaging oil painting workshop with accomplished artist Donna Pate. Designed for painters with some experience in oils, this class focuses on capturing the likeness, character, and expression of the human face while strengthening essential portrait techniques.
Inspired by Theo of Golden—the August selection of The Brookworms Book Club—this workshop celebrates the power of portraiture to tell a story and preserve the people who shape our lives. Whether you've read the novel or simply love the art of portrait painting, you'll discover how a thoughtfully painted portrait can capture both a person's likeness and their unique spirit.
Donna will guide students through the process of building a successful portrait, covering topics such as proportion, values, skin tones, color mixing, brushwork, and creating depth and dimension. Along the way, you'll receive personalized instruction and helpful critiques to build confidence and refine your technique.
Whether you're looking to improve your portrait skills or expand your knowledge of oil painting, this workshop offers a supportive environment to learn from an experienced instructor and create a portrait you'll be proud of.
A supply list will be e-mailed to you.
