Since the establishment of Raffles College in 1820, school buildings have been more than just places of learning—they have been landmarks of our cultural and educational evolution. These historic institutions, once bustling with the sounds of youthful energy, have witnessed Singapore’s transformation over the centuries.

As our city evolved, many of these revered schools were relocated to make way for modern development. Yet, their stories have not been forgotten. Today, these architectural treasures stand as proud monuments to our past, each repurposed and preserved to narrate its unique tale.

In the Bras Basah area, we find the iconic Singapore Management University (SMU), which, while modern, stands on land rich with historical significance.

Nearby, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) has its roots deep in Singapore’s educational heritage, originally founded as a Chinese school in 1938.

Bugis is also home to St. Joseph’s Institution, a school with a history dating back to 1852, embodying a rich legacy of Catholic education.

Additionally, the former site of the Singapore Chinese Girls' School, established in 1899, is now a vibrant part of the community, with its historic buildings preserved as part of our cultural heritage.

Join us for a leisurely stroll through these historic corridors. From colonial-era structures to their modern adaptations, we will uncover the secrets and stories embedded in these venerable buildings.

Learn about the rich history and enduring spirit of the landmarks that have nurtured generations of Singaporeans.

Let's reconnect with the heritage that has shaped our community and our city together.

Special promo for families: 2 childen (up to 12YO) can attend for free with 2 accompanying parents/adults.
