About this Event
Create the Next Big Tech. Create the Future.
In this camp, we will start with a hackathon where students will form teams, come up with ideas to solve real-life issues and create a pitch for their start-up idea!
Prerequisite: Personally interested in startups, innovation, and entrepreneurship (experience or knowledge are not required, but interest and curiosity are :))
Dates:
- 2-6 Dec 2024 (Mon-Fri), 9.30AM - 3.30PM or
- 9-13 Dec 2024 (Mon-Fri), 9.30AM - 3.30PM
Location: Guoco Midtown Network Hub (Bugis MRT)
What it's about:
Through design thinking and ideation sprints, you'll get the chance to find peers who share a common challenge that they care about, and team up based on an idea you're inspired by (you can also join with friends you want to build a project together with!).
We'll then have intensive startup masterclasses and workshops, led by trainers who have founded startups and built solutions, and who have mentored global startup founders on their entrepreneurship journey.
You'll go from learner to builder; from zero to one.
Key learning outcomes:
At the end of this camp, campers will:
- Grasp the concept of design thinking - the art of using empathy to identify real world problems, and ideating solutions
- Be able to articulate the key components in a business proposal - customers, marketing, sales, and revenue model
- Know how to create a mock pre-totype or a light Minimum Viable Product
- Learn to collaborate as a team to build a startup business pitch
Schedule:
Day 1: Intro to Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Learn about current mega trends, disruptive vs restorative innovation, and learn the role that empathizing with people play in entrepreneurship.
Students will also go through Stanford d.school's Project Wayfinder curriculum to discover their interests, strengths, and decide what kind of startup project they want to work on.
Day 2: Selecting the Best Idea
After interviewing people and finding out the problems they face, students will come up with solutions. They will learn the techniques in ranking and selecting the best idea to pursue. There will be some fun exploration of AI tools here too!
Day 3: How to Go To Market, and Who to Target
Students will prepare an elevator pitch of their idea, conduct more market research through interviews, and really design their customer journey and go-to-market strategy.
Day 4: Prototyping
Students will learn how to use simple prototyping tools and methods to create a mock-up of their idea. Students will also get the chance to consult the mentor on their ideas and the feasibility of the ideas.
Day 5: Final Touches and the Art of Pitching
On this final day, campers will put together their pitch, with visual mock-ups of their product/service, and learn how best to pitch their idea.
What do students get:
- A fleshed out business proposal and mad pitching skills
- Lunch across all days
- Official certificate
What Do Students Need to Bring: Laptop
Capacity: 14 students to start, maximum of 20.
We reserve the right to cancel the camp and refund your fees in full if the minimum number is not met.
