Sofia Borges is a Portuguese composer, percussionist, improviser and sound artist.
She focuses on interdisciplinary work and blending a variety of genres, traditions, materials and technologies.
Her compositions cover a wide spectrum ranging from chamber, orchestra and vocal music up to theater, dance, multimedia performance and installation.
Sofia has participated in numerous international festivals all over Europe, U.S.A, Brazil, Macao, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.
When performing as a composer-performer, she uses self-programmed electronics and instruments she has developed herself.

The DJ sets explore experimental electronic and instrumental ambient
soundscapes from the 2000s, inspired by pioneering IDM, Dub, Glitch, and
Ambient artists like Autechre, Seefeel, Oval, Christian Fennesz, and
many more. Blending these styles with contemporary avant-garde
electronic music from Africa and the Arab World, SurfSolaire creates a
surreal atmosphere featuring hypnotic, haunting textures and intricate
rhythms.
