Exit 12 Dance Workshops @ VA NJHCS Veterans Resilience Arts Trail
About this Event
As part of the VA's Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Resilience Arts Trail, we are excited to have the Veteran co-founded Exit12 Dance Company provide workshops for our Veteran community. We encourage you to sign up for all three workshops, as participants will have the opportunity to perform at the Montclair Art Museum reception hosted by the VA NJHCS on September 23rd. Performing is not required.
What to expect
In these workshops led by Román Baca and Exit12 teaching-artists, you will start with a light warm-up to get moving and ready to create, discover new ways to express yourself and your story through movement, and connect with others who understand the military experience.
No dance experience? No problem! All you need is a willingness to explore and express. Modifications will be offered so everyone can participate fully. Come move, create, and share in a new way!
About Exit12 Dance Company
Co-founded in 2007 by US Marine Iraq War Veteran Román Baca and his professional ballerina wife Lisa Fitzgerald, Exit12 began as a way for its founders to process their personal military experience through choreography. Exit12 is now a contemporary dance company committed to creating and performing works of high cultural significance that inspire conversations about world differences and the lasting effects of violence and conflict on communities, families, and individuals. Through movement workshops, performances, and presentations, Exit12 heals the veteran and military-connected community, educates civilians, and advocates for veterans issues. https://exit12danceco.org/
