Exhibition Opening | Pro Hart: Beyond the Canvas

Exhibition Opening | Friday 6 November
Join us at Broken Hill City Art Gallery for the opening of Beyond the Canvas: 20 Years On, a retrospective celebrating the life and work of Pro Hart.
Twenty years after his passing, Pro Hart remains Broken Hill’s most recognised and one of its most loved artists. His distinctive works captured the people, landscapes and spirit of the Australian outback, sharing his imagination and unique view of the world with audiences across Australia and beyond.
Beyond the Canvas brings together a selection of Pro’s works from the Broken Hill City Art Gallery’s permanent collection, alongside artworks and objects generously loaned by the Hart family and members of the community.
Through paintings, personal items, photographs, art-making materials and memorabilia, the exhibition offers a glimpse into Pro’s life and creative world. His palette, paints, brushes and painting boards sit alongside objects and stories that reveal the man behind the art: an artist and innovator, but also a neighbour, friend and much-loved member of the Broken Hill community.
Enjoy light refreshments and bar facilities as we celebrate the opening of this special exhibition.
