π¨π΅π THE PHILIPPINES - An Exhibition by Jason McCarthur
Saturday 14 November | 3pm | Slag Heap Projects, Broken Hill
Join local artist Jason McCarthur and his family for an afternoon celebrating Filipino culture through art, food and music!
Jason's latest exhibition, The Philippines, takes us into the everyday life of the Philippines, from bustling fish markets and roadside stalls to rural homes, fishing, farming and lush tropical landscapes.
A self-taught Broken Hill artist known for his colourful and distinctive depictions of people and place, Jason draws on his family connections to the Philippines to explore the beauty, resourcefulness and rhythms of everyday Filipino life.
Broken Hill has a large and vibrant Filipino community, and this exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the cultural connections between the Far West and the Philippines, bringing people together over art, food and music.
Jason has exhibited across Australia and internationally, most recently presenting a solo exhibition in Shibuya, Japan.
Come along, enjoy the exhibition, share in the celebrations and experience a little taste of the Philippines in Broken Hill!
