Exhibition Opening - Common Ground: Figuration and Abstraction in Conversation
Figuration and Abstraction in Conversation brings together the practices of Sello Ronald Letswalo and Khotso Motsoeneng in a dialogue that explores how identity, memory, and place are experienced through different visual languages.
While Letswalo's figurative sculptures and paintings emerge from lived experiences of township life, reclaimed materials, and cultural memory, Motsoeneng's abstract paintings investigate emotion, landscape, and organic structures through colour, gesture, and surface.
The exhibition proposes that figuration and abstraction are not opposing practices but complementary ways of understanding contemporary South African experience.
