In anticipation of the June 28th closing, join us as we celebrate Mulyana: Vital Ecosystems with an afternoon of multisensory experiences connecting music, art, and the ocean.
This unique event invites visitors of all ages to experience the exhibition through sound, storytelling, and hands-on creativity.
Event Schedule
2–2:30 p.m. | Musical Performance
First-floor gallery
Immerse yourself in Wave Decay – Open Ocean, a live string quartet performance featuring music by Timothy Reinholz. Part of the larger Wave Decay series, the work transforms real-time ocean buoy data into sound, mapping wave motion to pitch, rhythm, and dynamics to create an evolving musical landscape. The data follows the migratory route of a long‑distance shorebird across the Pacific, echoing the oceanic themes and interconnected ecosystems explored in the Mulyana exhibition.
3–4 p.m. | Artist Talk: Hearing Data: Environmental Sonification
Martin Commons
Composer Timothy Reinholz will share insights into his creative practice, exploring how climate and environmental data inform his work and how complex ecological issues can be translated into powerful musical experiences.
Throughout the Afternoon
Light refreshments
Craft activities for all ages, inspired by the exhibition’s themes of marine life, care, and interconnected ecosystems
Come reflect, create, listen, and celebrate Mulyana: Vital Ecosystems, closing on June 28th.
