Join us for the opening celebration of Frances Benjamin Johnston and the American Presidency in the Keller Gallery on Thursday, February 12, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum. This special evening is free and open to the public. This compelling exhibition explores Johnston’s wide-ranging work—from photographing Presidents Cleveland, Harrison, Roosevelt, and Taft to documenting architecture, landscapes, and students across America. Featured photographs include rare images connected to William McKinley’s administration. The statue on the steps of the McKinley National Memorial was based on her photograph of McKinley delivering his final speech.
At the center of the exhibition is a diamond brooch given to Johnston by Ida and William McKinley in 1898, crafted by J. Dreicer & Son and never before on public display.
Enjoy a grazing table catered by Dishes by Design, explore the exhibition, and take part in a Sip & Shop in the Museum Gift Shoppe beginning at 5:30 PM. Sample Coffee Bill coffee, browse unique gifts, or treat yourself—the Gift Shoppe will remain open until 6:15 PM.
