Looking through the lens and looking within have similarities that can enhance our understanding of ourselves and the images we make. Join local photographer and mental health counselor, Mindy Siks, to study how photography basics can “shed light” on our decision making and forms of expression. Bring a camera, a photo, an open mind and thoughtful heart.
Materials List:
Camera (any kind will do)
Bring a photograph to each class that tells a story about your self (a hobby, passion, feeling, special interest or occasion) - this can be any size or format, printed or framed or on a screen (your own laptop or cell phone)
Notebook or journal with a pen or pencil
Willingness to share ideas and an interest in photography
Skills you will learn:
-Basic camera settings in photography.
-How photography creates an avenue for self reflection and inspiration.
-How settings we choose for a photograph parallel how we see and interact with the world.
-The healing power of sharing in a group setting.
Ages 21 and up are welcome.
Please register at least 72 hours in advance. Classes may be canceled if enrollment minimums are not met. Cost is per student.
