Join Harry Rice and Andy Washington for a guided evening walk along the River Lea in search of kingfishers and other fantastic wildlife.
About this Event

Join us for a relaxed summer evening exploring the River Lea in search of one of Britain’s most iconic and colourful birds – the kingfisher.

Following the success of our previous sold-out walk, we’re delighted to be running another guided evening through one of East London’s richest wetland habitats. As we wander along the river, we’ll be looking for kingfishers while also keeping an eye out for herons, grebes, cormorants, woodpeckers, coots, moorhens, ducks and the many other birds and wildlife that call this remarkable urban landscape home.

Along the way, Harry and Andy will share insights into the area’s wildlife, bird behaviour and the fascinating history and ecology of the River Lea, helping you see this unique landscape through fresh eyes.

The walk is designed to be relaxed, friendly and suitable for all levels of experience. Whether you’re hoping to see your first kingfisher, improve your wildlife knowledge, or simply spend a summer evening outdoors with like-minded people, we’d love to welcome you.

The walk will last approximately two hours and covers around 1½ miles on mostly flat paths. Binoculars are recommended if you have them, but don’t worry if you don’t—we’ll have a few spare pairs available to borrow.
