Noel Dennis salutes Miles Davis
To commemorate the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis (b. 26 May 1926), Noel Dennis presents a concert featuring the music of the legendary American trumpeter. In a career spanning five decades, from Birth of the Cool to Kind of Blue to Bitches Brew and beyond, Miles Davis enjoyed celebrity status in the jazz world. This Jazz at the Lit & Phil concert will revisit Davis’ early days with Charlie Parker, the First and Second Great Quintets (1950s/1960s), through to the ‘Miles Goes Electric’ era, recruiting Brits John McLaughlin and Dave Holland along the way.
Join Noel Dennis (trumpet) and his all-star band - Harry Keeble (tenor saxophone), Dean Stockdale (piano), Mark Williams (guitar), Andy Champion (double bass) and John Bradford (drums) - in a salute to Miles Dewey Davis III (born one hundred years ago today, 26 May 1926).
