Not sure what to do with your etrog after the holiday? Join us for a unique opportunity to learn how to make your own Etrog Wine! Fermentation is one of the world’s oldest food-preservation technologies, with humans fermenting foods and beverages for thousands of years; in some cultures, alcohol consumption was largely reserved for religious ceremonies.
Archaeological evidence reveals that vineyards thrived in Israel as early as 5,000 years ago, with wine playing a central role in religious rituals, trade, and daily life. Grapes were cultivated across regions like Judea, Samaria, and Galilee, with Israel’s wine renowned across the Mediterranean world.
In this hands-on workshop led by Zack Rouda from Rewild Maine, you’ll learn the entire process of making wine from etrog fruit, from start to finish!
Although we won’t complete the full fermentation in one night, we’ll plan a celebration to sample the wine together once it’s ready in several months.
Don’t have an etrog?
No problem—everyone is welcome to join in!
