ETHEL - The Cultural Center at St. John's Opening Night

On September 3 we're launching The Cultural Center at St. John's with a performance by GRAMMY-winning string quartet ETHEL. The Center is a new public arts space inside the sanctuary at St. John's Lutheran Church on Milton Street.

For nearly three decades, GRAMMY®-winning, fearless string quartet ETHEL has been an electrifying presence on the global stage, fusing virtuosic playing and innovation with the music of our time. A pioneering musical force, with a sonic legacy of evocative storytelling, the ensemble continues to shatter preconceived boundaries across sound and style.

Premiering over 500 works—many commissions—collaborative and multimedia productions are central to ETHEL's identity along with traditional recital formats. From Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and the Venice Biennale, ETHEL performs at venues across the world, and in collaborations ranging from Ron Carter and Kurt Elling to Joe Jackson, David Byrne, Robert Mirabal, and Bang on a Can All-Stars.

Appearances include Conan O'Brien, Performance Today, Randy Cohen's Person Place Thing, NPR's Weekend Edition, and on HBO's Deadwood soundtrack. ETHEL's Met Museum Balcony Bar from Home virtual series garnered nearly 2 million views.
