About this Event
A Rare Tiffany Glass Tour Inside Rosehill Cemetery’s Mausoleum
Step inside one of Chicago’s hidden gems for a guided tour of the Rosehill Mausoleum—home to the largest non-ecclesiastical collection of Tiffany stained glass in the world.
•
We’ll explore dazzling stained glass masterpieces, uncover the stories of those memorialized within, and experience this iconic space bathed in the longest light of the year.
The Rosehill Mausoleum, completed in stages beginning in 1914, is one of the largest and most architecturally significant public mausoleums in the Midwest. It reflects a shift in early 20th-century American burial practices toward indoor, community-based entombment.
•
The mausoleum houses one of the largest collections of non-ecclesiastical Tiffany stained glass in the world, also making it a hidden cultural and artistic landmark. Notable residents include Sears, Shedd, Montgomery Ward, Thorne, and more.
•
While the Rosehill Mausoleum is mostly climate-controlled, the historic section featured on this tour is not air-conditioned. We recommend dressing for warmer temperatures and wearing comfortable shoes for walking.
