ESHPh Visits: The darkroom of the Academ of Fine Arts
"ESHPh Visits" is our new event format, launched to connect ESHPh members with photographic artists and spaces in Vienna and/or beyond it.

Hosted by Executive President Hanin Hannouch, by facilitating direct dialogue between the medium’s practitioners and its dedicated enthusiasts, the event becomes a space to promote synergies within our cohort and to connect it more strongly to the city.

Join us for an exciting look behind the image, as we visit artist studios, analog darkrooms, private collections, etc. to forge connections, and memories, that go far beyond the frame.

The ESHPh loves analog photoraphy, which is why we are visiting the darkroom of the Academy of Fine Arts together with our very own Robert Vanis who, among other highlights, is in charge of editing all images published in PhotoResearcher. Robert Vanis gives our journal its sleek and sexy appearance.

Spots are limited and are offered following the "first come first served" principle.

Rober Vanis ist Lektor im Fotolabor, am Institut für Bildende Kunst, an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien und unterrichte den Kurs Fotografie 1 (Grundlagen) seit Herbst 2025. Davor war er von 2016–2025 Leiter des Fotolabors an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. In seinem Kurs gibt er den Studierenden einen Überblick über die theoretischen, praktischen und künstlerischen Grundlagen der Fotografie im Allgemeinen und der chemischen/analogen Fotografie im Speziellen.
