About this Event

Mixed Sprint Medley Relays & 800 METER RELAY (4 x 200 METER RELAY)

Get your team together and join us for our second annual EP Track Club Relays.

*Please carefully read through the information & descriptions below*

This year, we will have two options for our competitors. The co-ed SPRINT MEDLEY RELAY, and the 800 METER MEN'S and WOMEN'S Divisions relays (also known as the 4 X 200 meter relay). You can gather a team for one relay or both! Only one person per relay team will need to purchase a ticket to enter their team. If you plan to compete in both relays, you will need to make a separate purchase for each relay team entry. Your purchase will allow us to provide a snack and refreshment table for competition day.

We will have a 20-minute break between the Mixed Sprint Medley Relay and the 800 Meter Relay (4 x 200 meter relay) to allow athletes sufficient time to recover, as we know many of you will be running a leg on both relays (and we love that for you!).

SPRINT MEDLEY RELAY: We will be combining men and women to form a team of four to compete for a prize for first place! The sprint medley consists of 1600 meters of competition covered by a team of four athletes.

First leg will run 200 meters (woman)

Second leg will run 200 meters (man)

Third leg will run 400 meters (woman)

Fourth leg will run 800 meters (man)

If you and your team will be competing in the SPRINT MEDLEY RELAY, please complete the questions asked after purchasing your ticket to include the first and last names of each of your teammates (i.e., "1st Leg - woman, 200 meter sprinter", and so forth). If you are only entering a team for the SPRINT MEDLEY RELAY, you do not have to complete the entries for the 800 Meter Relay section of the form. If you do have a team for both relays, please complete both sections.

The 800 METER RELAY (4 X 200 METER RELAY): Consists of four athletes, a team of four men or a team of four women, each completing 200 meters. The men's relay teams will compete against one another vying for a first-place prize in the men's division. The women's relay teams will go head-to-head vying for a first-place prize in the women's division.

If you and your team will be competing in the 800 METER RELAY (4 X 200 Meter Relay), when prompted after your ticket selection, please enter the name of each of your teammates in the space that reads, "*For teams competing in the 800 METER RELAY ( 4 X 200 METER RELAY) MEN'S & WOMEN'S DIVISIONS * Please list all four athletes below (first and last names)."

If you are only entering a team for the 800 METER RELAY (4 X 200 METER RELAY), you do not have to complete the entries for the Sprint Medley Relay section of the form. If you do have a team for both relays, please complete all questions listed on the form.

We will provide the batons, the hand-time, and the exchange zone judges. Just show up with your squad. Matching uniforms/accessories/t-shirts are encouraged but not required.

Only one representative from each team is required to complete the registration and questions listed within this form.

Rules are as follows:

  • Baton Exchange: The baton must be passed within the designated exchange zones.
  • Lane Requirements SPRINT MEDLEY RELAY: The first two legs (200 meter runners) will run in their assigned lanes, and the third runner(400 meter sprinter) will cut-in to lane 1 at the 300m mark (after running the curve). After running one full lap, the final exchange will be at the common exchange zone near the start/finish line (blue non-staggered exchange zone) where the fourth runner will complete an 800 meter run. Promise we will help you better understand the exchanges prior to race day, don't worry!
  • Lane Requirements 800 METER RELAY (4 X 200 METER RELAY): Each athlete will complete half a lap (200 meters) and the baton must be passed from the incoming runner to the outgoing runner between a designated 30 meter exchange zone. The teams will start the race and finish the race in their own designated lane.
  • Disqualification: A team can be disqualified if the baton is dropped and not recovered in a timely manner, if the exchange happens outside the designated zone, or if a runner interferes with another team.

We will have opportunities at our Monday meet ups leading up to August 22nd to practice exchange zones so that you and your teammates are familiar with handoffs and relay rules.

Additionally, on the day of competition, judges and volunteers will be there to guide you in setting up at each exchange zone, so don't worry if you are not 100% familiar with the rules of the race!

Please reach out via DM on the EP Track Club Instagram for any questions you may have.

Stay Elevated.
