Learn what to do in the first hour of a neurologic emergency.
About this Event

Akin to ACLS, ATLS and PALS, the Neurocritical Care Society, (NCS) has developed ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support Course). The ENLS course consists of modules and protocols designed to help treat the neurocritically ill patient in the first hour or “ the golden hour@. Neurological emergencies including acute ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage etc.can be life threatening and time is of essence. Often referred to as,” TIME IS BRAIN”.

The checklist allows physicians to focus quickly and efficiently on the most important, rather than the esoteric, items in an emergency. This should lead to better outcomes and improve communication between the treating and receiving physician caring for patients in a neurological emergency. Every provider caring for Neurocritically ill patients will benefit from the ENLS course including nurses, physicians, pharmacists in various specialities including emergency medicine, intensive care, anesthesiology, neurology, neurosurgery, paramedics, hospitalists etc. Residents, fellows, medical students will feel better equipped to treat patients with neurological emergencies. Similar to ACLS all providers work better as a team when ENLS certified.
