Intermediate English Conversation Classes for individuals who want to improve their English.
About this Event

Georges River Libraries offers free beginner and intermediate English Conversation Classes for individuals who want to improve their English in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Held weekly across nine weeks, each class is led by a facilitator who will guide discussions, help explain new words, and encourage you to speak in everyday situations.


Choose the class that’s right for your level:

  • Beginner: For learners with basic English who want to improve speaking and reading in a supportive group.
  • Intermediate: For those who can speak English and want to become more fluent and confident.


Term 4 starts on 15 October, running each Wednesday for 9 weeks until 10 December.

Class sessions are held from 10.00am - 11.30am on the following dates:

15 October

22 October

29 October

5 November

12 November

19 November

26 November

3 December***

10 December***

Each session is guided by a facilitator who will help you understand English Learning practices as well as improve your speaking and reading skills.


***Please Note:

Hurstville Library will temporarily close from 1 December 2025 to allow for essential fire system improvements, including a new sprinkler system.

English Conversation Classes scheduled for Wednesday 3 December and Wednesday 10 December will be held at the nearby Blackshaw Gould Community Pavilion, located in the Hurstville Oval precinct at the corner of Dora and Gordon Streets, Hurstville.


These classes free but spaces are limited – when you sign up, you are required to attend every class.

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so we can offer your place to someone on the waitlist.


Cost: Free

Age: Adult

Experience: For those who want to refine their English speaking skills to become more fluent and confident when talking in groups.

Equipment: All materials will be provided.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
