Project 1: Choose Your Own Script
Difficulty: Beginner
Provided Supplies:
- 1 6 inch embroidery hoop, pre-fitted with fabric
- 1 embroidery needle
- 1 sewing needle
- Access to earasable chalk pencils for drawing your design
- Access to an array of embroidery thread, beads, sewing thread, sequins and charms
- Please have your script picked out in advance so we can get straight to crafting
If you have never picked up a sewing or embroidery needle before but want to learn, this project is for you. In this project you can pick whatever phrase, quote or script that speaks to you. However keep in mind the more letters you need, the smaller you have to make them and the more difficult it will be to stitch. You can choose to add a small icon with stitching, beading or sequins, or just add some sparkle sewing on lots of add ons. This project is whatever you make it, and can take you in many directions. I can teach you to stitch either backstitch or chainstitch (as seen in the project example) to complete your letters as well as how to sew on beads and other inclusions. This project is a great way to build foundations for any future projects you can dream up.
Project 2: Tarot Card: The Moon
Difficulty: Beginner/intermediate
Provided supplies:
- 1 6 inch embroidery hoop, pre-fitted with black fabric, with drawn on design
- 1 embroidery needle
- 1 sewing needle
- Precut chain and star charms
- 1 spool of white thread
- Access to an array of embroidery thread, beads, sewing thread, sequins and charms
If you feel comfortable with hand sewing, and/or have some limited experience with embroidery, you will likely be successful with this project. You will learn how to use a back stitch and a modified satin stitch in this project, as well as learn how to attach beads to your project. Backstitch is great for line work, but to fill in areas with colour, satin stich is a go to. In this project you will get a mix of all the basics, and learn different ways to combine them in a project. In tarot the moon represents cycles, rebirth, and femininity. Maybe this is your opportunity to have a 'rebirth' in your artistic journey?

Workshop Description:
Each workshop will start with a quick tutorial on threading your needle, and thread thickness. I will then demonstrate a back stitch, followed by a satin stitch for project two. about 1 hour and 15 minutes into the workshop I will do a beading tutorial that will apply to both projects. In the final 10 minutes I will do a tutorial on completing the back of your hoop. While the projects are designed so you can accomplish the project in approximately 2 hours, if you have not completed it, you will be able to take home any materials to complete it. I will be demonstrating everything you need to know within the 2 hours so you have the skills to complete at home if needed. I will be available the entire 2 hours for questions, support, and further demonstrations so you feel confident in your skills by the end. If you do not complete the project in the 2 hours, and find you have a question or need support at home, you are more then welcome to contact me to ensure you get the full experience. My goal, is that you are able to learn these embroidery skills so that you can build on them and create your own pieces at home if you wish.
