Join silversmith Bryony Knox and learn how to transform thin copper into your own contemporary embossed tile. Drawing on the graphic forms of grasses and plants associated with Scotland in autumn, you will explore the malleability of this colourful metal using wooden hand tools.Two workshop sessions available on the same day

Bryony will guide you through designing your own motif based on seasonal grasses and foliage, or you can choose from a selection of her original designs. Then you’ll learn to transfer and emboss your image onto the thin copper shim using wooden tools, a stylus and a soft mat.
By the end of the session, you will have formed your embossed copper tile around a wooden base and finished it as an elegant keepsake to display at home. Suitable for both beginners and those with some making experience.
All tools and essential materials will be provided. Spaces are limited, so it is recommended to book in advance.
Bryony Knox is an Edinburgh-based silversmith who designs metal sculptures and silverware with a twist. Alongside her own practice, Bryony teaches the traditional embossing technique of chasing and repousse from her studio in Leith and across Scotland.
