TERM 1: EMBODIED FUSION BELLYDANCE
8 Week Level 1 Course Lismore
Starts February 11th
Tuesdays 6:00-7:30pm NSW time (90 min classes)
These Level 1 courses don’t require any prior experience and have been created with 6 core components in mind:
• Foundational Bellydance Technique
• Choreography
• Heart-Body Attunement
• Intuitive Sensual Movement
• Creative Dance Flow
• Sacred Sisterhood Connection
This beginner level course is an holistic approach to learning bellydance. You’re invited & welcomed into a safe, non-competitive environment to connect more deeply to the powerful feminine energy within.
Each class begins with intention, grounding breath & slow sensual yoga-style warm up movements to drop into our bodies. From a place of somatic centering we open to receive the magic & wisdom that awaits us within sacred (intentional) feminine movement.
Over each term we will learn a series of foundational bellydance movements that we will weave together into a powerful choreographed dance. Whilst technique & choreography is a core focus in each class, the course is sprinkled with gentle practices that invite students to embody the shapes, flow, sensuality & power of this dance from an intuitive place.
Through embodiment practices, clear bellydance technique, freestyle dancing & opportunity to be witnessed dancing for your dance sisters in a relaxed class setting; these classes will uplift & nourish your entire being, whilst creating profoundly powerful opportunities for deep inner healing.
(Students who also join the Performance Art Project add-on will have the exciting chance to tease their edges a little more by bringing their dance to stage at the end-of-term Dance Showcase. Our dance tribe, friends and family alike will be there to create a super safe, supportive space as they cheer you & your dance troupe on!)
Over 4 terms we cover all foundational movements & each term covers new movements & choreography. Students can commence learning with any term in the year. It is recommended beginners complete at least 4 course terms before moving on to Level 2.
Each Level 1 course is facilitated by Malika Moon & Claudia Bowen.

WHAT IS FUSION BELLYDANCE?
Fusion Bellydance is a modern dance style that blends traditional Middle Eastern bellydance with elements of other dance forms, cultures & disciplines. It is a highly versatile & creative style that began to take form in the 1980's & it has evolved exponentially over the decades to incorporate so many individual expressions of this dance.
Embodied Fusion Bellydance is Malika Moon’s unique interpretation of this ancient artform, which is inspired by her deep personal inner journey with this dance. The intention behind Embodied Fusion Bellydance is to weave this dance into ones life as a self-healing tool & spiritual practice.
This contemporary expression of Bellydance is powerful, sensual & mesmerising. With slow, snake-like movements & hypnotic hip rhythms, gateways to healing are opened through a deeply embodied presence & the activation of our sacral centre, our wombs.
This dance invites one in to the realms of primordial feminine essence our wombs contain; into the delicious realms of femininity & sensuality, enabling deeper attunement to the inner landscape & the language of the body. These movements can be a potent tool to one’s embodiment journey as the polarity between flow & discipline, feminine & masculine, play out in each dancer.
Fusion Bellydance is generally danced to less traditional music such as world music, trap, temple bass, dub, dub-step, r&b and more.
Malika’s classes are well known for her incredible playlists as she utilizes her deep connection to music, rhythm & the energetics of sound to create a mindfully curated musical journey of neo-beats that is impeccably in synch with each of her unique expressions of the dance.
ABOUT MALIKA
After growing up living with a paralytic shyness, overwhelming shame & a total disconnection from heart & body, at 26 Malika found her way onto a deep healing path. Initiated by finally being willing to face a lifelong yearning to dance, which had been shunned by fear for decades. Finally turning towards her hearts yearning, Malika was immediately sent on a deep journey of reclamation. Bellydance became a powerful ritual for empowerment and has become intricately entwined with her healing path.
Among other inner battles, Malika suffered from body dysmorphia and eating disorders most of her life. It wasn’t until burn out lead to alot of sudden weight gain that bellydance became the pathway and tool to a major healing of her body image issues. Tapping into her sensual expression from a somatic or inner felt sense, Malika began to forge a healthier and more nourishing relationship with her body.
Having bellydanced for 12 years and taught for over 5, Malika is deeply passionate about passing on the art & technique of this dance whilst also facilitating a journey that inspires growth & empowerment in her students.
ABOUT CLAUDIA
Claudia’s relationship with movement and dance reflects a journey of self-discovery, creative expression and liberation.
Throughout her full-time studies and early professional life as a performer, Claudia battled with perfectionism and self-abandonment, losing herself in cycles of comparison, disconnection, and toxic ideals of femininity. Yearning for a deeper and more authentic way of being, she embarked on a transformative journey back home to her body, shedding layers of external validation until she was able to reclaim her truest self. Today, she celebrates her complexity as a woman and an artist, embodying raw creativity, sensuality, and empowerment through dance.
With 7+ years of teaching experience across many styles, Claudia guides others with warmth and empathy, not just in the skill and artistry of dance but in reconnecting with their essence, to discover the pulse of the feminine transmission from within.
