Emancipation Day Spoken Word Event

Sunday August 2nd may be the dayafter Emancipation Day, but the love and the joy are still going strong at Vancouver Black Library, where we're hosting our annual Emancipation Day Spoken Word Event.Valérie d. Walker, Siobhan Barker, and April Sumter-Freitag take the stage to share the history, the joy, the heartache, and the fierce queerness of emancipation. But then we turn it over to YOU: we invite Black attendees to share their own readings, or to share an excerpt from their favourite Black author, poet, or writer. Everyone is invited to this special afternoon at the VBL.
