About this Event

October's Lunch Poems reading features poets Jaime Forsythe and melanie brannagan frederiksen.

Jaime Forsythe's most recent book of poetry is Yield (Wolsak & Wynn/ Buckrider Books, 2026). Her previous collections are I Heard Something (Anvil Press, 2018) and Sympathy Loophole (Mansfield Press, 2012). Her fiction and poetry have appeared in Arc, EVENT, Grain, The Malahat Review, Geist, The Ampersand Review and This Magazine, among others. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph and currently lives close to where she grew up in Nova Scotia/Mi’kma’ki.

melanie brannagan frederiksen is a writer living in Winnipeg, MB, on Treaty One Territory. She is the author of the night, the knife, the river, which will be published by At Bay Press in fall 2026. She is the poetry columnist for The Winnipeg Free Press. Her poems have been published in various print and online venues, including Grain and +doc: a journal of longer poems, and her e-chapbook, poseidon's cove, athena's cave was published by Model Press. She co-edited, with Ariel Gordon, the 2026 edition of Writes of Spring, an annual National Poetry Month feature for Manitoba poets.
