Elling Eide Center - Group Volunteer Workday and Picnic
About this Event
Activity
Generally, volunteers gather at the Elling Eide Center to help with habitat restoration and enhancement at our 72-acre bay-front nature preserve, help care for Elling's 7-acre fruit and ornamental tree arboretum, or support the native plant conservation seed bank and horticulture program. Specific activities are determined in the days prior to the event, based on Preserve needs. If you are keen for a specific activity, please consider joining us as a solo volunteer, or emailing Lee with your specific concerns. ([email protected]).
Following work, interested guests are invited to join a potluck picnic, described below.
Summer Bonus: Mango Flair
The Eide Center arboretum is filled with mature mango trees, and they are loaded with fruit this year. To celebrate, the volunteer events in June and July will emphasize a connection with the mangoes. At the very least, the potluck picnic will feature fresh mangoes and other mango treats. However, the volunteer activities themselves may include turning the mangoes into preserves, or other mango-related activities. Stay tuned.
