Meet the Performers...
ELIZA BLUE
Eliza Blue is a writer, folk musician, and rancher living on the short grass prairie of western Dakota. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, and NPR’s All Songs Considered. Her weekly column, Little Pasture on the Prairie, is carried by 19 different print publications, and she has written and produced seasonal audio ‘postcards’ from her ranch for South Dakota Public Broadcasting and Prairie Public Radio. Her first book, Accidental Rancher, was chosen as the Siouxland One Book 2023. Her second book will be released by the South Dakota Historical Society Press in June 2024.
Eliza currently hosts a show celebrating rural art and culture for PBS called ‘Wish You Were Here with Eliza Blue,’ and she is the director of the Kithship Collective, an organization devoted to innovative, ecosystem-specific storytelling.
JON BAKKEN
Jon Bakken is a classical cellist, jazz bassist, songwriter, composer, and elementary strings teacher from Brookings, South Dakota. He is also the creator of Tiger Meat, a zine and website about South Dakotan albums, which will be collected in hardcover editions the summer of 2024. Jon recently released his debut folk-rock album, Return to the City of Afterwall and an EP of songs from an upcoming musical theater collaboration with Eliza Blue called The Grass Widow.
NICHOLAS TRANDAHL
Nicholas Trandahl is an award-winning poet, journalist, outdoorsman, and veteran residing in northern Wyoming, where he currently also serves as mayor of his community. He has had six poetry collections published and has also been featured in numerous literary journals and anthologies. Trandahl has been awarded the Wyoming Writers Milestone Award and has received several nominations for the Pushcart Prize. His most recent poetry collection Purgatory was ranked the number one new release in American Poetry on Amazon. Additionally, Trandahl works as poetry editor for The Dewdrop literary journal and as a contributor for The Way Back to Ourselves literary journal.
