Vancouver Poet Laureate Elee Kraljii Gardiner her launches her new collection sometimes, forest from Talonbooks!
Join us for an evening of poems and friendly discussion with Ottawa’s Anglophone Poet Laureate David O’Meara hosted by and with a reading from Chris Turnbull.
Elee and Chris are in the midst of a years-long collaboration together within words and woods. This will be their first time reading individual work at the same event.
BIOS
Elee Kraljii Gardiner is the author of three poetry collections, serpentine loop, Trauma Head and, most recently, sometimes, forest from Talonbooks, as well as editor of two anthologies (V6A: Writing from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and Against Death: 35 Essays on Living). A frequent collaborator, she works across disciplines and administers the Warland Award for hybrid literature. She also directs Vancouver Manuscript Intensive and is the seventh poet laureate of Vancouver.
David O'Meara is the author of five collections of poetry and a novel, Chandelier. He is currently the English-language Poet Laureate for the City of Ottawa.
Chris Turnbull is the author of three books of poetry. Her most recent poetry chapbooks include parts path (drift/line 2025) and inclusion in if/then (JackPine, 2025), a collection of interwoven poems by twelve poets from various countries. Additional writing, collaborations, installations and videopoems are in print, online, or within landscapes. She curates a footpress, rout/e, whereby poetry can be found on trails (www.etuor.wordpress.com). Her notes from recently is forthcoming in 2026.
