About this Event

Meeting Point: Outside Ulster Hall, Bedford Street!

This fun and informative walking tour links past and present, helping you see the streets of Belfast’s Linen Quarter in a new light—and appreciate just how much there is to enjoy in this unique district. As you stroll, your experienced Belfast guide will share entertaining ‘yarns’ spanning 250 years, each connected to the places you encounter.
You’ll hear where the largest bell in the city rings out—and why it fell silent for a time. You’ll discover the venue where Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti made his UK debut in 1963, and another where Led Zeppelin first performed the iconic ‘Stairway to Heaven’ in 1971. You’ll learn where linen and other workers once went for their weekly baths before modern plumbing, and how a modest record shop founded in the late ’70s became the inspiration for a film, a musical, and vibrant street art in an open‑air gallery.
The leisurely route takes in impressive architecture, iconic entertainment venues, historic and characterful bars, lively public spaces and markets, colourful street art, unique independent shops, and great places to eat and drink—revealing the Linen Quarter as a district full of stories, surprises, and charm.
