About this Event

About

The East of England Sustainable Building Network is a bi-monthly networking and learning opportunity that aims to bring together construction industry and sustainability professionals.

It provides a platform for discussions, sharing knowledge, learning ways to increase sustainability in the built environment, and networking opportunities over breakfast, tea and coffee. It aims to drive sustainability in construction, aligning with the UK's goals for Net Zero Carbon by 2050.

For each event, we invite different guest speakers to share their perspectives and insights on sustainability through presentations, panel discussions, or Q&A sessions. If you're interested in being a speaker at a future event or have any queries, please get in touch with Lilly Clarke - [email protected].

Topic

Retrofit. The elephant in the room.

In 2019, the UK Government committed the nation to become net zero in use by 2050. With the construction industry responsible for around 44% of all emissions generated, and around 1/3rd of this, down to the domestic sector, there is much to do.

Legislative updates continue to improve matters such as the impending Future Homes Standard, which is all great for new build construction, but what about the UK’s existing building stock?

James and Alex will talk through why Retrofit is now more important than ever, including strategic reviews of existing housing stock and how such strategies can be rolled out in the real world.
