Ecstatic Dance is a free-form conscious movement experience held every Sunday morning in Cedar Rapids. Guided by the 5Rhythms framework developed by Gabrielle Roth, each 90-minute gathering takes participants on a musical journey through five distinct energies — from fluid opening through full release and back into stillness.
There is no choreography. No partner required. No right way to move. The music is the leader, and your body follows its own wisdom.
The space is no shoes, phone-free, talk-free, scent-free (perfume. essential oils, smoke, body odor), and sober — not as a list of rules, but as a container. When those things are removed, something else becomes possible. People stop performing and start feeling. The floor becomes a place where you can be exactly who you are, moving exactly as you need to.
Dennis opens and closes every gathering in circle. Whether it's your first time or your fiftieth, he'll walk you through everything you need to know to feel comfortable and get the most out of every dance.
Doors open at 9:15 AM for those who want to stretch and settle in. Opening circle begins at 10:00 AM.
This is a Corridor Dance Collective event — a growing community of people in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area committed to authentic movement, connection, and showing up as themselves on a Sunday morning.
Suggested donation $15. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. All bodies welcome. Age 16 and up.
