Ecologies of Architecture: Aleksandra Kędziorek and Jeff Carter
About this Event
Please join international curator Aleksandra Kędziorek, Jackman Goldwasser Resident, and artist Jeff Carter for a conversation exploring how time shapes architectural memory through the reintroduction of lost ecologies and history.
Kędziorek will present Nenúfars, a collaboration with design collective CENTRALA. The project reintroduced an overlooked aspect of the Pavilion’s original 1929 design, aquatic plants, to the iconic pool of the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
Carter will present research from his solo exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center, focusing on the Singer Pavilion, the sole remaining building of the former Michael Reese Hospital complex in Bronzeville and a design collaboration by architect Walter Gropius, the founder of the Bauhaus School.
