Eco-Print with Natural Dyes Workshop

Eco-Print with Natural Dyes Workshop at Thread Spun in Encinitas. This workshop led by Lauren of Sound as Color is suited for both beginner natural dyers or those with experience looking to have fun and create a beautiful, one of a kind bandana with nature. We will be using flowers in a fall palette to eco-print or bundle dye a silk bandana. This process is a fun, intuitive, creative exercise which lends itself well to overdying old or stained clothing or linens. Participants will leave with the knowledge to do this on their own at home if they so desire! Ticket holders can also shop the entire Thread Spun selection at 15% off the day of the workshop.

In this workshop we will cover:

• Mordanting fabric (Your scarves will be pre-treated, but we will discuss this method so you can do at home)
• Recommended flowers and dyestuff for eco-printing
• Demonstration of application and dye process

• Pre-Mordanted Silk Bandanas
• Dye Flowers & all dye materials
• A follow up guide for you to follow in creating your own pieces at home.
