About this Event
Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Memorial Healthcare System will host two seperate ECMO Boot Camps, May 7-8 and October 29-30, at Memorial Regional Hospital, Conference Center.
This two-day, eight-hour course emphasizes hands-on learning for community hospital healthcare professionals who want to expand their ECMO programs. By offering these immersive courses, we aim to build a network of proficient ECMO practitioners in the region, ensuring that our community is well-equipped to handle the challenges of extracorporeal life support.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT
Completion of the self-paced 7-8-hour online ELSO Foundations is required prior to attending this simulation course.
GOALS
- Increase the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on skill of healthcare providers in managing ECMO patients.
- Enrich our local healthcare community by creating standardized, high-quality training programs that directly translate to improved patient safety and outcomes.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This hands-on, simulation-based curriculum will provide the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely manage ECMO patients in their facilities. Attendees will also learn theoretical principles and develop the critical motor skills and decision-making abilities required for effective ECMO management. The itinerary is structured to include:
- Essential lectures in the morning
- Extensive, high-fidelity simulation drills
- Realistic clinical scenarios to gain practical experience with two different types of ECMO circuits
CME/CEU Credits
Participants will receive CME/CEU credits once they finish the course and submit the course survey.
