Celebrate the beauty of our oceans through creativity, conservation, and hands-on learning at WMODA's Living Reef Workshop.
Join Lindsay Humbles, Educational Outreach & Program Coordinator for Ocean Rescue Alliance International (ORAI), as you build your own "Living Reef" clay sculpture inspired by the marine habitats created offshore in Hollywood, Florida. Designed for families and participants ages 8 and up, this engaging workshop explores how corals grow, reproduce, and help restore our oceans.
Using air-dry clay, you'll design a unique reef sculpture and add a live succulent as a "living fragment," demonstrating how coral colonies can grow from small pieces into thriving reef ecosystems.
Workshop Includes:
- Hands-on instruction from ORAI's Educational Outreach & Program Coordinator
- Create your own air-dry clay reef sculpture
- One live succulent to complete your "Living Reef"
- All clay, modeling materials, and supplies
- Learn about coral growth, reef restoration, and marine conservation
- Light refreshments
- Time to explore the Splash! exhibition and enjoy the Mermaid Quest scavenger hunt while your sculpture dries
Event Details
Cost: $60 per participant (ages 8+)
Chaperones: Non-participating adults may accompany up to three children at no additional charge.
Space is limited to just 20 participants, so reserve your spot today!
