Three voices. Two hundred fifty years. One unbroken American song. Join the Biggs Museum and OperaDelaware for a time-traveling musical performance. This powerful night traces the American voice from spirituals through Puccini, Gershwin, and Kurt Weill to Sondheim, performed by soprano Toni Marie Palmertree, bass-baritone Justin Hopkins, and tenor Dane Suarez. The program moves from Sullivan Ballou’s Civil War letter to the wide-open promise of South Pacific’s “Some Enchanted Evening,” from Susannah’s Appalachian heartbreak to Candide’s closing call to “Make Our Garden Grow.” This is not a history lecture set to music. It’s an argument, made in song, that the American story has always been told by its singers. Thursday July 23, 5:30 — 7:30 PM Hosted at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in downtown Dover in partnership with Delaware State University. Limited parking available in the museum parking lot. Save your seat! $25 tickets, $20 for Biggs members, $15 for students, free for kids ages 12 and under. Get 20% off paid programs by becoming a member.
