This workshop is designed for anyone interested in natural building and traditional earth construction methods. Led by experienced earth builder Peter Hickson from Earth Building Solutions, this workshop focuses on earth rendering to finish off our earthen walls for our outdoor training and entertainment area, The Hive.
You will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience as you apply natural render finishes to an earthern floor.
The workshop also explores the broader principles of ecological building—covering passive solar design, building technique selection, and the environmental benefits of earth-based construction.
These simple, sustainable techniques require minimal energy and provide endless opportunities for creativity, making them ideal for home projects, garden structures, community spaces, and artistic builds. Participants will leave the workshop equipped with practical skills and confidence to replicate natural building processes in their own environments.
Thanks to generous support from Community Bank Milton & South Coast, this workshop is part of a series of natural building programs offered at significantly discounted rates, making hands-on learning accessible to more people.
GETTING THERE
Entrance to the Growing Together market garden is through a side-gate on the south-eastern side the Milton Showground. There is parking in the Milton Showground around the toilet block or above the council sheds. Please keep to the speed limit driving through the showground.
