A formidable wordsmith, Roderick’s warm personality and “rich, burnished baritone” (New York Times) have captivated audiences around the world. He joins Libby Burgess, praised by the Observer for her “warm, sensitive pianism”.
Songs by Gurney, Clarke, Trimble, and Ireland – including The Cloths of Heaven and Sea Fever – mirror the themes of love, travel and nature found in the centrepiece of the programme: Finzi’s musical homage to Thomas Hardy, Earth and Air and Rain.
