Arpeggione (Autumn Festival)

An all-star collective of some of the country’s finest string players is assembled for the festival, and in this coffee concert we showcase two of them. Schubert’s soulful ‘Arpeggione’ Sonata holds a unique place in the chamber music repertoire; it is paired with James MacMillan’s haunting and dramatic Cello Sonata No 1, infused with the music of the Highlands.
New Paths veterans Jane Atkins and Leo Popplewell join Libby Burgess for an enchanting start to the day.
