An early-autumn gathering of Chinese incense, tea and pastries — a sensory journey through aroma, taste and inner reflection.
About this Event

Early Autumn Incense & Tea Gathering with Chinese Pastries

In classical China, gatherings around incense and tea were an elegant part of literati life — a way to appreciate aroma and taste, exchange thoughts, cultivate sensitivity, and create a quiet space for reflection.

This early autumn gathering brings that spirit into the present.

Rather than simply learning about incense or tea, you are invited to slow down, turn your attention inward, and notice your own responses — how an aroma changes your breathing, how a tea settles in the body, and how different pairings shift your mood, perception, and sense of presence.

Throughout the afternoon, we will experience two Chinese incenses and four teas through seven carefully arranged pairings, accompanied by three Chinese pastries. The focus is not on finding a “correct” answer, but on becoming more attentive to your own senses and inner experience.

The incense appreciation will be guided by Ryana from MINALS, @minals_cn. MINALS is a Chinese incense lineage with over 870 years of heritage, carrying forward the orthodox tradition of Chinese incense culture and a sophisticated system of blending aromatics into harmony.

Tea appreciation will be guided by Matias Loyola Guerra, @therhymingleaf, a Berlin-based tea educator, researcher, and certified Tea Art Specialist with over 10 years of structured study and experience in Eastern tea cultures. His approach explores tea through place, biology, perception, and sensory experience, connecting traditions across Asia and the West.

The incense selection includes:

Zhijian Incense — Yin
Zhenli Incense — Yang

The tea selection includes:

Guizhou Lübaoshi
Guizhou Hongbaoshi
Shu Pu’er
Milanxiang Dancong

Chinese pastries and desserts will be provided by @wowocake_hamburg:

Pineapple Pastry
Sacred Tarn Ice Jelly
Stone Lion Cheese Cake

An intimate afternoon of incense, tea, and food — designed not only to introduce Chinese cultural traditions, but to let you experience them through your own senses.

A moment to slow down, become present, and perhaps hear yourself a little more clearly.
