Join the Berks History Center for a captivating two-day event, "Eagle Eyes: The Times of Our Lives in News Photos Through Six Decades," where we explore the rich tapestry of Berks County's history through the lens of local photojournalism. This unique program will showcase approximately 100 photos from the Reading Eagle and Reading Times, spanning from the 1960s through the 2010s. Join us for one or both programs; the choice is yours!
On Thursday, November 6, the event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a light supper and beverages, setting the stage for an engaging presentation. Attendees will enjoy a panel discussion featuring several esteemed photographers whose work has documented the evolving narrative of Berks County over the decades. Moderated by former Reading Eagle staffers Bruce Posten and Donna Reed, the discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session. The cost for Thursday's event is $15 for BHC Members and $25 for Non-Members.
On Friday, November 7, the event continues at 10:30 a.m. with a morning of coffee and donuts while guests immerse themselves in a video presentation of these iconic photographs. The session will be moderated by Bill Uhrich, Reading Eagle photo editor, along with Bruce Posten and Donna Reed, providing another opportunity to delve into these powerful visual stories. The cost for Friday's event is $10 for BHC Members and $15 for Non-Members. Highlights of the event include a dynamic showcase of photographs capturing the spirit and essence of Berks County across six decades, insights from the photographers themselves who will share the stories behind the images, and discussions on the evolving art and impact of photojournalism.
