Join us on November 22nd from 10 AM to 1 PM for the PA German Yarn Star Workshop at the Berks History Center. Back by popular demand, under the expert guidance of BHC's Education Curator, Vicky Heffner, participants will delve into this unique textile craft, a tradition that hails from post-Civil War southeastern Pennsylvania. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to explore the resourcefulness and creativity inherent in PA German culture.
The PA German Yarn Star, a testament to the thriftiness of the Dutch, involves using scraps of cloth, small lengths of yarn, and a reusable tin star. This hands-on workshop will take you through the fascinating process of creating these beautiful yarn stars, highlighting how everyday materials can be transformed into stunning works of art. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a curious beginner, this workshop welcomes all skill levels.
