About this Event

Join us each month as we meet in person to discuss how our world is being shaped negatively by powerful forces in society, and dystopian imaginings are becoming present-day realities.
November's book is The People, No: A Brief History of Anti-Populism by Thomas Frank.
A political analyst and cultural historian, Thomas Frank delves into the history of populism, from Gilded Age America to the present day, arguing provocatively that everything we think we know about populism is wrong. In this book that will "outrage, entertain and enlighten Liberals", Frank describes the truly progressive potential of working-class populism, and how the plutocratic elite have used recent racist and extremist forms of populism to vilify and silence the voice of the people.

Location: Toronto Reference Library, 3rd Floor, Discussion Room

Please note: This book club meeting does not include an author talk. Thomas Frank will not be present at this meeting.
