Weekend Turkish School for Children

Toronto Yunus Emre Institute is offering Turkish course for children in Toronto. The in-person course will take place at the Toronto Yunus Emre Institute, located at 78 Berkeley St., Toronto, ON M5A 2W7.

GOAL OF THE COURSE AND TARGET AUDIENCE: This course is designed for Turkish children aged 9-11 living in Canada. It offers the chance to improve their Turkish and get to know our culture better. In this course, the kids will practice their Turkish and learn more about Türkiye’s history, traditions, and arts. There will be lots of fun activities like drawing, painting pots, learning folk dances, cooking Turkish dishes, reading books, and solving puzzles and competitions. Through this course, our kids will have great time discovering the Turkish culture.

Age: Children applying for the course should be between 9 and 11 years old.

Course Dates: The course will run from October 5, 2024 to December 21, 2024, for a total of 12 weeks. Classes will not be held on October 12 and November 9, 2024, due to federal public holidays in Canada.

Course Day and Hours: Our courses will take place on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Venue: The courses will be held at the Toronto Yunus Emre Institute, located at 78 Berkeley St., Toronto, ON M5A 2W7.

Course Materials: We will use course books prepared by the Yunus Emre Institute. You will need to purchase the relevant coursebook from the Toronto Yunus Emre Institute when the courses start. Please visit the following link for the coursebooks: Coursebook for children

Teachers: The course will be taught by native Turkish speakers with education and experience in language teaching.

Course Fee: The course fee CA$54.58 in total (CA$50.00 for the course fee and CA$4.58 for Eventbrite processing fees). The total fee covers the course fee, registration fee, and learning materials except the coursebooks.

Registration: You must register for the course on Eventbrite. Candidates will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid missing this opportunity, we advise you to register promptly.

Cancellation of the Course: Courses are subject to cancellation in case minimum quota is not met.

Withdrawal / Refunding: It is possible to withdraw any applications before the start of the course. In this case, the processing fees charged by Eventbrite might not be refundable. If a participant wishes to withdraw their application within the first week, Eventbrite fees and an additional 20% admin fee will be deducted from the registration fee paid. After the first week, no refund of the registration fee will be provided. All refunds will be made to the participant's bank account.

Registration Documents: When the courses commence, the Toronto Yunus Emre Institute might request you to complete additional registration forms and submit documents. The Institute will handle all documents and information confidentially in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
