About this Event
🔍Duxbury Discovery Ride🔍
đź“… When: Meet at 9:45 am, Wheels spin at 10:00 am
📍 Where: Mass Audubon's North Hill Marsh Parking Lot, approximately 370 Mayflower Street, Duxbury, MA. There are 2 lots roughly across the street from each other. We will be leaving from the one with the sign that says "North Hill Marsh" which is on the left and after you pass the first one when coming from route 3a. Park in either. In fact, if you see a spot in the first one, grab it. The lots are not big.
🚴‍♂️ What to Expect: 2-14 miles | 2.5 - 3 hours | 5-6 mph average pace with periodic stops Duxbury is twisty, non-technical singletrack on rolling hills. There are a few rooty sections, but almost no rocks. It's best ridden at a reasonably brisk pace and with attention forward, to take advantage of quick elevation changes. It's demonstrative of this mountain biking adage: Pedal down - Coast up, Coast down - Pedal up, Brake down - Walk up.
Join us for a fun intermediate-level ride. It is not for beginners or sedentary former athletes. This ride is about short, punchy climbs 🤜🏾followed by short descents and tight corners. Perfect for those who have been riding 1-2 times per week, and are good at or interested in working on maintaining momentum, cornering, and anticipating the right gear for what's coming up. The "second rider drop" method of group riding ensures that no rider is left behind and riders of various skill levels are able to ride together.
🪖What to Bring:
- Working mountain bike
- Helmet
- EXTRA Water. Electrolyte, sugar, and carb-replenishing trail snacks.
We'll keep the vibes positive (well... some self-deprecating snark is always in the cards) and the group together as much as possible. Nobody will be left behind, but early bailouts can be arranged.
If you have questions about the ride, you can reach out to Rob at [email protected].
