Join us this May and June for our community workshop series at the Meridian Mall.Workshops will be held in the old Mirrou space at the Hanover Street entrance of the Mall.
This year you will have the chance to make:
Cocoon - 23 &24 May
Snail - 30 & 31 May
Kiwi - 6 & 7 June
Tickets are available now via our website and ticket link on this page - this will take you to the booking portal and allow you to pick the session time for your desired workshop.
Session times run from 10am, with the last session of the day at 2pm.
These lantern-making workshops are a standout feature of the iconic Dunedin Midwinter Carnival (12–13 June 2026), and a favourite experience for many families.
It takes 1-2 hours to make a lantern and all materials and instructions are provided on-site. Children under 15 are required to have a parent in attendance. You can find us on the ground floor of the Meridian Mall - beside the Hanover Street Entrance.
Your lantern is your ticket to this year's event. All lanterns made in this year's workshop give you 1 FREE entry to attend the Carnival AND be a part of one of our processions!
The ticket price covers about half the cost of running these workshops with the remainder covered by our generous sponsor Meridian Mall.
