Drum Together Brum : African Drumming Workshop

Ever wanted to play an African Drum ? Ever wanted play sweet rhythms on a range of instruments ? Ever wanted to feel the positive benefits of drumming in a group setting ?

If so then this event is for you as well as anyone who knows exactly how good this is to do and how good it makes you feel !

Warm greetings to you, I'm Damo and I have been running regular African Drumming events in South Birmingham for over 15 years as well as around the country including annual events at Glastonbury festival alongside the Mighty Hearthworks Tipi Crew and at the Roots Corner at Shambala festival.

Drumming together in a group setting is really good for us, it helps us heal our physical body and calms our mind. The more it is studied, the more positive benefits seem to be revealed what our ancesters instinctively knew as do all drummers all over the world, so I am trying to make this an accesible activity open to all.

We will begin with some warm up exercises as well as some discussion about the instruments and the culture, then I will introduce you to the instruments and begin the workshop using Djembe, Dun Duns, Bells n Shakers in the perfect uptown setting of Exhale Conscious Bar. Learn a bit about West African Percussion, the culture, the benefits of playing and make some music in a group. This will be great vibes in a brand new setting, no prior experience necessary, instruments provided.
