Join us for Drive & Thrive, an exciting drop-in event showcasing the latest in energy efficiency and electric vehicle (EV) solutions for your home and lifestyle. Whether you're curious about reducing your energy bills, upgrading your home’s efficiency, or exploring the world of EVs, this is the perfect opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired. Cotswold District Council is running this event in partnership with Lets Experience Electric.
What to Expect
Electric Vehicle Showcase:
- View the latest EV models and book a test drive to experience them firsthand.
You will be able to test drive EVs throughout the day.
Home Energy Efficiency and EV Trade Show:
- Discover a wide range of innovative products and solutions.
- Get personalised advice on home energy improvements, including grants and support for low-income households.
- Explore cutting-edge technologies like smart thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, EV chargers, and more!
Inspiring Talks & Panel Discussions (The Sanctuary in The Old Department Store):
- Hear from experts about saving money, staying warm, and lowering your carbon footprint.
Seats for the talks will be allocated on a first come first served basis so please arrive promptly for any talks you would like to listen to.

10.30 – 11.30 / Electric Vehicles (EVs)
An introductory session exploring the realities of electric vehicles and the practicalities of charging.
- EV Myth-busting (10.30 - 10.50)
A clear, evidence-based look at common misconceptions around EVs, including cost, range, charging and suitability for everyday use.
- Buying and owning an EV (10.50 - 11.10)
Exploring today’s EV options, real-world costs, charging at home and on the road, and what ownership is like day to day.
- The Workplace Charging Scheme (11.10 - 11.30)
An explanation of government grant funding available for workplace EV charging points including eligibility, funding levels and how to apply.
12.00 – 13.00 / Home Energy and Retrofit
A practical session focused on improving energy efficiency and reducing energy costs in your home.
- Whole-House Retrofit: working with Cotswold Vernacular (12 - 12.20)
An introduction to retrofit principles and how energy efficiency improvements can be delivered sensitively in traditional and historic Cotswold buildings.
- Solar PV and Battery Storage (12.20 -12.40)
How solar panels and battery systems work, typical costs and savings, and how to use them effectively to reduce energy bills.
- Heat Pumps and Electric Heating Options (12.40 - 13.00)
An overview of air-source heat pumps and other electric heating solutions, including recent updates to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and what support is available.
Be Prepared - if you would like to test drive an EV
Driving License Verification Process for Ride and Drive
In order to participate in the EV Ride and Drive Opportunities at the event you must have held a full UK driving license for a minimum of 2 years and be over 21 years of age.
On the day you will need to bring:
- Your UK photo card driving license
- A printed copy of your Personal Driving License Check and your GET A CODE reference which you can create by visiting:
https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number
- Your National Insurance Number
Once verified you will receive a wristband which you can then show in the Ride and Drive area. Drivers will be informed of manufacturer specific requirements during registration.
