Slow down, tune in, and discover a different way
to experience drawing. Led by artist and educator
Maureen O’Neill, this workshop combines guided
meditation, breath awareness, intuitive mark-making,
and slow-seeing to explore creativity as a practice of
presence and reflection.
Through guided exercises and a variety of drawing
materials, participants will be encouraged to let go of
expectations and focus on the experience of creating
rather than the finished product. Discover how simple
marks, mindful observation, and intentional movement
can transform drawing into a calming and restorative
creative practice.
O’Neill serves as Director of Exhibitions and
Educational Programming for the Barton College
Art Galleries and Assistant Professor of Art at Barton
College. She also leads drawing meditation and
pastel workshops at the North Carolina Museum of
Art and Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center in
New Mexico.
Designed for all experience levels, no previous
drawing or meditation experience is necessary. All
materials will be provided, though participants are
welcome to bring a favorite sketchbook or journal.
